The bank holidays seem to be coming thick and fast at the moment. We’ve just got back into the swing of things after the (almost) three-week-long Easter school break and now, May Day on Monday, May 2nd, is almost upon us.

But that means only one thing – another opportunity to entertain and dine with family and friends.

We are here to help you plan ahead for the long weekend by suggesting some delicious meal ideas using our fantastic, seasonal range of spring produce.

Saturday, plan the perfect night in

Go all out to impress and serve our sumptuous steaks. Choose from fillet, rib eye, rump, sirloin or the ultimate in luxury – our Chateaubriand. For help choosing your favourite cut, read our guide on the different steak cuts.

Or perhaps you fancy turning your hand to a delicious recipe devised by our ambassador chef, Rosie Dicker? Rosie says her pork chops with chimichurri recipe is, “quick, easy and impressive as chimichurri really lifts the flavour of the chops”.

Top tip: Once you’ve mastered Rosie’s chimichurri recipe, this traditional Argentinian sauce made with parsley, oregano, garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and red pepper makes a fantastic accompaniment to our steaks, too.

Sunday – it has to be a roast

We offer so many options to help you create a roast dinner centrepiece for your table.

Topside of beef
Lean, and perfect for roasting, our topside comes with a natural layer of fat that self-bastes during roasting. A staple in any fridge – thin slices of topside can even be used as minute steaks for flash frying.

New Season Lamb
Skilfully tunnel-boned by our award-winning butchery team, a whole boned and rolled leg of lamb is an all-meat, incredible value for money family roasting joint. Weighing approximately 3kgs, suitable for home freezing too, you can even cut this in half to create two smaller joints.

Chicken
Our Herb Fed and free-range chickens are reared on a farm in Yorkshire under the highest welfare standards. Full of flavour thanks to their diet which includes more than 10 varieties of fresh herbs, once you’ve tried these birds you won’t go back to ‘regular’ poultry. An absolute people-pleaser of a roast dinner.

Pork
Richly marbled pork shoulder gives a succulent, flavoursome roast. The tiny seams of fat render down to give fabulous flavour. For a Moroccan-inspired take on a classic dish, try Rosie’s Fragrant Roast Pork recipe.

Bank Holiday Monday – crack out the barbecue

This year, May Day falls on May 2nd and while we can’t guarantee sunshine, you can bank on the quality of our Lincolnshire sausages for perfect hot dogs.

Made to a family recipe using only the finest Lincolnshire pork, bread, sage and salt and pepper, we think our bangers make the best hot dogs or taste just as good with mash and gravy. Our family barbecue packs are available online and include burgers, baby back ribs, koftas, pork loin steaks, rib-eye steaks and sausages.

Slow-cooked beef brisket

Keep your options open with a beef brisket joint. A firm favourite with lovers of the slow cooker or barbecue, brisket boasts intense marbling which delivers a real depth of flavour. The incredible savoury fat that only comes from Lincoln Red cattle, renders down during slow cooking to enrich the cooking juices – which make an incredible jus. Pull it apart and serve with rocket salad in a brioche bun for the ultimate comfort food satisfaction.

With our next day delivery, online and in-store options, planning ahead for the next long weekend couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is decide what to eat and let us do the rest.
