Get together and take inspiration from The Big Lunch event this June

Our business is at the heart of our local community and we pride ourselves on working alongside farmers, here in the Lincolnshire Wolds, as well as nurturing an online kinship of foodie fans via our social media channels.

So, this month, with ‘community’ and ‘unity’ in mind, we are raising awareness of the Eden Project’s Big Lunch event.

According to the charity’s website, The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours and communities, with millions of people uniting for a few hours of friendship, food and fun. It connects people and encourages friendlier, safer communities where people start to share more – conversations, ideas, skills, resources and friendship.

The event was started by the Eden Project and evolved from one simple idea: What if, on one day a year, people came together with their communities and shared a meal?

And so, in 2009, The Big Lunch was born.

This year, the Big Lunch 2024 will take place on June 1 – 2 and it’s easy to join in. Sign up for the Big Lunch and get your pack, with plenty of inspiration inside.

A gathering can be anything from two neighbours sharing a Ploughman’s platter and a cold beer, to a full-on street party – ultimately, it’s not about numbers, it’s just about a sense of community.

Spice things up with a Black Bean Chilli Con Carne. Rosie recommends using soaked dried black beans to give something extra to the dish. Marmalade and Lemon Chinese-Style Chicken

This clever little recipe utilises some key ingredients most of us always have in the store cupboard and puts the humble chicken thigh centre stage. Leg of Lamb with Harissa Yogurt

Nadia Sawalha’s Mini sausage loaves recipe

Make your own sausage rolls, inspired by ITV’s Loose Women panel member Nadia Sawalha.

This take on the classic sausage roll is made using ready-to-use shortcrust pastry and 300g of Lakings Lincolnshire Sausage meat, so should be a doddle to rustle up. The Sausage Loaves recipe can be found on the Big Lunch’s website.

Rosemary’s Black Pudding, Lamb and Mint Scotch Eggs
