As we head into the middle of May, the country is gently easing back into a kind of normality after living under more than a year of coronavirus restrictions. The government’s roadmap out of lockdown in England will see further changes from May 17th, with most social contact rules lifting for outdoors, while indoor meetups will be allowed under the Rule of Six and for larger groups of two households.
That means we can, at long last, sit around a dining table and enjoy a Lakings Sunday roast with friends or family members we haven’t seen for a few months. Or host a barbecue without having to hide under an umbrella outside.
Throughout these challenging times, the whole Lakings team – from the farmers we work with to the faces behind our counters – has been a constant, striving to make life as normal, and easy, for our customers as possible. As an essential business, our doors never closed and during the height of the pandemic, our online delivery service was a lifesaver for those who didn’t fancy popping into the shop. During these tough times, having loyal custom has been a godsend, and we can only hope that we – you and us – have a long road ahead of us… you wouldn’t want to miss out on all this, would you?
Our Award-Winning Butchery
Online and in-store, our award-winning butchery team hand cuts every order so you can enjoy the freshest, highest quality produce that tastes the way we know it should.
Traditional Butcher Produce
Lakings is a haven for those who are passionate about their food. Our meat is always fresh, always British – if not from Lincolnshire itself – and always ethically sourced. Our refurbished space in Eastgate is home to traditional hand-made foods, as well as local produce and fellow local brands.
Everything is made by hand in our on-site production kitchen – from pork pies and sausage rolls to pastries and bread rolls, even the puff pastry. On the takeaway counter, sandwiches, rice, pasta, and green salads are all freshly made, as are Lakings’ ready meals such as lasagne and our celebrated pies. Stuffed Lincolnshire chine, baked hams, cakes, pasties, Scotch eggs… we could go on, but the queue out the door speaks for itself.
At The Heart Of The Community
An integral part of the marketplace in Louth, Lakings has worked with the same Lincolnshire farmers for decades, so we know our meat comes from heritage, native breeds which are reared locally to the highest standards of animal welfare.
Exceptional Online Service
From our butcher’s block to your front door – the process of ordering fresh meat online has never been easier. Our online store allows customers to select locally and sustainably produced cuts that are then packaged into fully recyclable boxes and insulated with Woolcool. We work exclusively with DPD, so when you opt for next day delivery, you’ll be getting the most sustainable delivery service available, as well as fully trackable packages via the DPD app.
Our Promise To Our Loyal Customers
Whether in the shop, in person or online, each member of Lakings’ 28-strong team works hard to offer a professional experience to our customers – delivering traditional local produce, honestly sourced, expertly sold.
A Rich History
A pillar of the Louth business community for more than 100 years, Lakings stands for quality. It stands for maintaining important links between our lush landscape, the animals that are reared on it and the products found on our counters.
Our future
As we emerge from some of the toughest times in living memory for so many, we continue to adapt and evolve our family business to deliver the best products and service for our customers to enjoy.
We are looking forward to the road ahead out of lockdown.
